An All-Australian Experience!

Experience the tropical rainforest from a totally unique perspective – aboard an amphibious World War II Army Duck (officially spelt DUKW).

As you traverse part of the property on your unforgettable 45 minute rainforest tour, your knowledgeable Duck Captain / Guide will point out and explain ferns, orchids, strangler figs and stinging trees, as well as birds such as the Azure Kingfisher and a host of other animals and reptiles.

As you splash into the lake, be sure to smile as an automatic digital photo is taken. These are available for purchase at the Tropical Treats Juice Bar when you disembark.

With propeller engaged, your Army Duck cruises up to the water’s edge whilst turtles, fish and eels swim up close. Keep an eye out for water dragons or pythons sunbaking or slithering up trees.

This aboriginal culture attraction is in two parts:

Pamagirri Corroboree
30 Minute show of traditional dance performance in a rainforest amphitheater, depicting animals, food gathering, and hunting. The rainforest serves as the theatre walls whilst sounds of wildlife provide accompaniment to the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo and clap sticks. Be sure to watch closely - there's a surprise for the audience at the end!

Pamagirri Dreamtime Walk
30 Minute guided tour along an all weather walk-way modelled on the Rainbow Serpent gives you fascinating insight into aspects of aboriginal culture. Try your hand at boomerang throwing - after a demonstration and a few lessons, you’ll be ready to test your skills with this ancient aboriginal implement. The area is specially netted for your safety, as boomerangs do come back!

Observe spear-throwing - you'll be amazed at the distance the Pamagirri Guides can throw spears using a Woomera.
In the midst of traditional aboriginal dwellings, hear your Pamagirri Guide play the didgeridoo, an ancient instrument. Listen carefully for sounds imitating Kangaroos or the Kookaburra. You can also purchase authentic artwork and artefacts such as didgeridoos and boomerangs.

Wander at your leisure or join a guided group with our experienced Wildlife Keepers. Covered boardwalks provide excellent viewing of native Australian animals, including crocodiles, wombats, dingoes, snakes, lizards, and the cassowary. Handfeed kangaroos and wallabies, or have your photo taken cuddling a cute koala (optional extra).

The Skyrail Experience

A Skyrail Experience will take approximately 1½ hours one way and spans 7.5kms over Australia’s pristine tropical rainforests.

Skyrail is the world's only rainforest cableway, traversing the Barron Gorge National Park, offering superb views of the Coral Sea and World Heritage Rainforest from a 'birds eye view'. Gliding just metres above the rainforest canopy in comfortable six-person gondola cabins, the Skyrail journey immerses you in an intimate rainforest experience where you’ll see, hear, smell and become part of the tropical rainforest environment.

Kuranda Scenic Railway

Since June 1891 this famous railway has offered passengers a very special journey between Kuranda and Freshwater Station. Enjoy this 1 hour journey through 15 tunnels and over many bridges, crossing waterfalls and ravines as it traverses the very edge of the Barron River Gorge.

  How do I get to Skyrail?

• Self Drive: You can drive yourself to Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Skyrail's Caravonica Terminal is located 15-minutes north of Cairns city and 50 minutes south of Port Douglas.

• Coach Transfer: Skyrail runs a regular coach transfer service from most hotels and motels in Cairns, the Northern Beaches (excluding Holloways and Machans) and Port Douglas areas. If you require a coach transfer, please indicate this in your Reservation. NB: You will require a coach transfer, unless you are self driving, using public transport, or have arranged alternate means. Coach transfers must be booked in advance of travel to ensure availability.

  A performance theatre where live performers interact with giant holograms.  The Creation Theatre tells the story of the Tjapukai people

  An outdoor theatre set in a natural forest amphitheater and featuring a live performance celebrating traditional Tjapukai corroborees and song
• Didgeridoo Demonstration
  See how the musicians coax out the sounds of dingoes, birds and learn the secrets of the circular breathing technique you will need to master to be a true didgeridoo player
• Bush Foods & Medicine Demonstration
  Learn how the Tjapukai people treated many toxic foods to prepare them for consumption, and how the land provided medicinal remedies for everything from ailments to accidents
• Spear & Boomerang Throwing
  Have you ever used a Woomera to throw a spear?  Throw a traditional returning boomerang and have your photo taken with a Tjapukai performer.
• Canoe Rides
  Paddle the lake and see the fish, eels and turtles up close
• Boomerang Restaurant
